Editorial Staff of St. Cloud Times Calls 1/2 it's Local Readers Cowards - A reply

A Response to the SCS Times editorial of CDT June 21 , 2019

This is a delayed  reply to the recent editorial printed in the St. Cloud Times on June 21, 2019.  I did not see it at the time of printing and therefore, went to the SCS Times website to see for myself what I had been hearing about.

Quite frankly, sometimes I wish I had not looked it up because of the offensive tone and the ugliness of the article. It made me feel even more discouraged about the pervasive unwillingness of so many people to even try to listen and to hear each other, to work together, in good faith, to truly make St. Cloud a place (home) to be proud of for all it's people!

If I were a someone looking at the St. Cloud area to locate here, whether personal or business, this article would certainly make me think twice.  If the community's official newspaper attacks a part of it's own community because of a difference of opinion within that community, why would anyone want to locate here!  There is definitely an atmosphere of intolerance to any other opinion than one's own, and no apparent willingness to look for solutions or to even listen to one another.

   *  Was there any mention in the editorial  considering the possibility of finding a solution or a means to work out the problem?  No!
  *    Was there any mention of an attempt or willingness to talk with -  and listen - to the persons you denigrated in this article? No
  *    Or any mention of any of the other serious problems we have in St. Cloud and how to bring the community together on solutions!  No.

The article spoke of respect, dignity, treasure.  But there was nothing respectful or dignified to be found in this editorial.  Treasure? Do you really believe you have presented a good view of St. Cloud with this ugly editorial!?!   Please re-read your own article and look to your own reflection in it.

~I am a concerned St. Cloud resident of 20+ years, a grandmother, mother, sister, friend, neighbor and life-long member of a Christian congregation.  What I have seen in the changes during those years here in St. Cloud, are a mirror image of the changes occurring in our country. Hopefully, my inadequate words will nudge someone to look at what they are saying but just as importantly, how they are saying them.  Hatred and unreasoning anger speak louder than mere words.
I am writing without giving my true identification, fearing that some one will use that information as an excuse  to lash out because I speak counter to their beliefs. But from previous experience of my own and of personal friends, I honestly believe there would be personal attacks and/or physical repercussions.
Says something about our problems, doesn't it?

What it takes to be called racist

To the Editor
Governor Dayton told the people who lived in Minnesota and disagreed with his Diversity Program that we should move out of Minnesota. I did not hear anyone call him a Racist or a Bigot.

President Trump told Four Congress Women who have been spouting Anti American and Antisemitic comments that they could move to some other country. The Democrats and News Media are now calling him a Racist and a Bigot.

I Finally understand how this Racism thing works. You have to be a Republican or a Conservative to be a Racist and a Bigot. You can not question the Muslim Religion. if you do you are  considered  a Racist and a Bigot. You can not attend any meeting that Governor Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison (who happens to be a Muslim) hold on OneMN and Diversity  and disagree with them. If you do you are a Racist and a Bigot.  No one is reporting on what is happening with the Child Care Fraud Case. People are Resigning and Running for cover. Millions of dollars went to Somalia carried in Suitcases and the Mpls. Media is not covering it. Is our Attorney General Keith Ellison trying to cover this up? Now I qualify as a Racist and a Bigot and that is OK with me.

This is a copy of a letter that I sent to several newspapers in our area . It was printed in most of them

Why do they keep pushing the narrative that we worship the same god?

This LTE was originally sent in in to the St. Cloud Times in February 2019. It was resubmitted earlier this summer.  It is 299 words and follows all their requirements:

I have had some less than pleasant run-ins with people who are active in the interfaith dialog movement. My questions about how they can promote to both Christians (no matter what sect) and to Muslims (again, no matter the sect) that we worship the same god when this is 100% NOT true has not been met with a kind answer, ever. This is a reasonable question, as for someone to state to me that "God is not the Trinity and Jesus did not die on the cross" is blasphemy (1 Corinthians 3:11) and the same is true to tell a Muslim that their Allah is the same as God. (Qur'an 112:3 part 2 and Qur'an 4:156-157 ).

In order for there to be a solid foundation in any relationship, we must start with trust and the truth. The truth is Christianity is the knowledge that God is 3 in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that Jesus, the son of God, died on the cross to save man from burning in hell for his sin. Another truth is Islam follows the teachings of Allah; Allah who was not begotten nor did he begot, and their Isa (Jesus) was neither killed nor crucified (Qur'an 6:157).

I am hoping to get a clear answer as to why the interfaith movement believes it is not OK for us to worship a different god? And if it is OK, then why is the interfaith movement in Minnesota lying to portray similarities that do not exist? I thought we were promoting diversity. We have so many people who are becoming atheist or agnostic because it takes lots of time and research to cut through all the confusion being created; yet none of this needs to be so complicated, especially when we start with truth.
